HistoryIncreasing Narcotics abuse and trafficking in the state of Louisiana from other states prompted the Louisiana Sheriffs Association to implement a statewide computerized Narcotics Information System in 1990. After expanding to include Violent Crimes in 1995, the Louisiana Department of Justice, at the request of the Louisiana Sheriffs Association, assumed management of the network. As of Fiscal Year 1999, management of the system is back with the Louisiana Sheriffs Association. This system is constantly changing to meet the needs of the users and will expand in area from narcotics to all criminal investigations in the state of Louisiana and bordering states. It will be used by multi-jurisdictional agencies throughout the state of Louisiana and bordering states. The LSA Net II system is an excellent means by which Louisiana law enforcement can work jointly with other states toward aggressively combating violent crimes, gangs, and narcotics activities. |
